THINKING ABOUT GETTING QUAIL
What do i do with the extra quail im only needing about a dozen and the ones i want to buy are 2 dozen. Also are these good quail.
If i get these how long before i can butcher them, because i am thinking of butchering the ones i don't want.

If they are button quail as in chinese quail properly called chinese blue breasted quail then you will not be eating them. They are miniature quail and get no larger than a big hamster. I guess if you like quail nuggets

Coturnix or bobwhites are recommended for meat birds. Coturnix can be butchered at 8 weeks ( I recommend 10-12 weeks to let them fill out and add some fat) and bobwhites can be processed anywhere between 16-24 weeks depending on the type of bob. If you click on my name there are some videos on processing quail. Hope this helps.

I was just joking I really doubt you could eat button quail. Through my whole life I've slaughtered and processed livestock of all sorts but I don't think I could slaughter a button quail just to eat, I don't have the heart, they're tiny like really tiny. A dove would make three or four button quail.

This is a full grown button quail.

This is a full grown coturnix which make good meat birds.
