Buying a 3rd chicken (Buff Orpington)

We just bought 2 chickens 2 weeks ago to Black Australorps and we are wanting buy another pullet that is a Buff Orpington. Can we just add the new one to the mix or do we need to do something to socialize them.

Are they chicks or adults? If they are adults, I would quarantine the new BO. They will all get along, just have to think about health.

They should be in even numbers! Like 50 or 100 Buff orpingtons!!!!

Oh, but they are my favorite breed! i would not put any chicken under 8 weeks with a grown hen; if that was the question.

They are all about 6 months old... same age.

I would seperate the BO for a bit (to make sure she is healthy), and actually I agree that even numbers are best. You remember when you were young- 3 never get along- 2 hang out and one is left out....

If you have room get 2. That way it's 2 on 2, thats what I did.
