Share your recommendations or bad experiences with on-line chick purchases. I'll start it off.

I bought my last day old chicks from Chickens for Backyards. They shipped and arrived exactly on time and were all healthy. Out of 8 ordered pullets, 1 turned out to be a rooster. You can order as few as 3 chicks at a time. Would recommend them.

I have ordered from four hatcheries over the years, Dunlap Hatchery, Murray McMurray Hatchery, Ideal Poultry, and Cackle Hatchery, and have been satisfied with the service and birds of all four of them. I highly recommend Dunlap Hatchery. Although not as large as the other three, I loved their service and birds. The folks at Dunlap are very friendly and helpful.

I ordered from Murray McMurray and they all came healthy and alive! They just came in the mail this morning. I would recommend ordering them in summer rather than winter. The cons about shipping them is that the mail men don't really care that there is live babies in there! The pros are that you don't have to go and pick them up.
