Here is the link for the state info on NPIP. When you click on your state (or any surrounding states), a list will come up - this may be many pages long, so scroll down (although Wyoming is only 1 page long). Hatcheries and breeders are listed, so you can check the addresses to see if any is near you.

If you want a particular breed, there are codes listed - but what do they mean ?!?! Here is the code list: http://www.poultryimprovement.org/documents/StockCodesAlphabetical4-16-2018.pdf

NPIP indicates breeders that have chosen to go through the process to become certified, but there may be other breeders near you that are not NPIP.

Good Luck.

Ideal poultry is a good hatchery their not expensive their shipping is 20 cents per chick, 25 cents per turkey poult or duckling, and 32 cents per gosling but you mist order a minimum of 25 dollars in chicks.

When I ordered from Cackle they shipped on a Monday and got to me wednesday morning even though Usps tracking said they wouldn't arrive till Thursday. I live in western Ny.

I picked up my babies this morning, ordered through Cackle Hatchery. We live in FL. The lady from there called on Friday and said they would be hatched and shipped on Monday. I got a delivery date for today “before 8 pm” but the post office called at 5 am this morning and said come and get them. LOL We ordered 6, but they sent 7. All were healthy and fine and they shipped them with a heating pad thingy. For the 6 chicks we ordered, plus shipping, plus the small order fee of $20, our whole order came to $67.

Cackle is in Lebanon, MO. It's about 160 miles from St. Louis and just a bit farther from K.C.. I've been there and you can walk in to pick up chicks. As with most large hatcheries, I don't think they raise all the breeds themselves but have other specialty breeders locally that they contract with. I can't imagine the size of the operation it would take to raise and breed sufficient quantity of that many breeds and species. I don't know this for a fact but I Imagine they get eggs from others and set them there.

I have seen in some posted emails from the owner Nancy stating that they do get alot of their eggs from farms around them.
