Buying from individual and shipping the chickens

Hi,
I searched but didn't find quite what I was needing to know. My dilema is I new to this and I was wondering how I could go about buying some chicken from an individual out of state and arranging the transaction and shipping process. I've aware of Cash On Delivery, C.O.D., service by couriers but what's the alternative if the individual is to be paid up front before shipping? Do couriers offer something like C.O.D but the opposite, as in Cash On Pick-up?

I think most shippers require payment up front, as they are not responsible for issues related to shipping. Some people take paypal, others require a check or money order.

I am not sure what the question is exactly, but usually when shipping animals the person with the animal is paid up front while the person paying is given some sort of written guarantee that they will receive what they paid for.
