Buying leg rings for my quail chicks

I've recently started breeding quails and have loads of chicks now. I have that many, I sometimes get them mixed up so I would love to get them leg rings so I can separate them. There's a site for birds Robharvey.com and they do leg rings but I don't know what size I can get. I'm still learning about quails as I haven't had them for long. Does anyone else ring their quail chicks?

I read some where it's size 4 , but that's for adults. not sure what size for chicks.

Size 4? How many mm's is that? I've been looking on the internet and I think they're about 8mm for quails so I've ordered some of those and I will find out for myself when they arrive so I will update and tell you the right size

We use very small rubber bands and color code them. Have to double it so it wont slip off

Ok then, where do you buy yours from? I've seen quite a few on eBay, the plastic clip ones but I heard the rubber ones were really good but couldn't find any.

Believe wife gets them from Tractor Supply. She actually buys them for our little girl to braid her horses main. I was trying to figure a way to tell difference between male/female doves at a glance when I thought of color coded rubber bands on their legs. Just kept using on quail to differentiate between ages.

Ok then, I'll have a look. Thanks for the advice that's what I need to do, differentiate the ages and the genders. Aww I bet those horses look pretty with braids

So did you end up with 8mm? I am reading about Quail leg rings now and the European Paultry Association says 6mm, and a guy on Youtube said 7mm?
