I have been scouring Craigslist for the "right" tiller for a while. I have a 18hp Diesel, and a rather sloped yard. A 4ft tiller works, but it really does stress the tiller at 4ft. So, I have been looking at 42", and smaller tillers. I found the one that will be perfect! It is a older model 38" tiller. My tractor is 42" wide without the deck. The great bit about the tiller, is that it's offset. I am so stocked!
I plan to use this to start planting some late-season corn. I've got a 4 row corn planter (JD) I bought a while ago for parts. I can strip it down and put together a single row planter. This will serve as not only food for my family, but feed for chickens, (and future animals). Also, it'll be a great attractant for deer.
I will also be tilling a patch of ground I had cleared earlier this year. For this, I plan to plant something simple, like beans. Once again, it'll be great feed, for both livestock and deer, turkey, etc.
