Buying pullets/hens at county fair?

Since I'm only looking to get 2-3 chickens, I'm having trouble figuring out where to get them. Any suggestions? Do they sell them at county fairs when they are done showing?

They may not sell them, BUT ask those that are showing, and they probably will either be willing to sell to you, or know someone who would like to sell. Most of those showing are 4H kids, and are willing to part with thier project chickens as soon as the fair is over.

Depending on where you are, Meyer hatcheries sells started pullets, I think they are debeaked though.

Also there are quite a few Ohioans on here, and most of them have more than they realy need, and would be willing to part with a few. Check the BST section or Post there what you are looking for.

You don't say where you are? I have more than I really need but they are older. I have heard on byc that my pet chicken .com will sell in small quantitys and you can get the breed that you want.
