Buying unsex chicks HELP

Hello everyone I’ve been checking on online hatcheries for white silkies keys because I want to get them for their broodiness.
If you are looking for broody breeds, check out LF Cochins too. I've had hatchery silkies and yes, they have been broody on a regular basis. Our LF Cochin hens (also hatchery sourced) have been just as persistent and they cover more eggs. I have 3 of them now that I'm trying to break. And you can get sexed chicks in different varieties.

Before you buy any chickens, do you have a plan for the males you will get? Chances are great that you will have at least one to deal with, and probably more. Too many cockerels with pullets usually results in stressed, harassed pullets, and could adversely affect laying. Are you allowed roosters where you live? If you even only want to keep one, there will likely be more to get rid of. So before you place an order, have a plan.

Definitely agree with bobbi-j's advice. One NEEDS a plan for excess cockerels. I know. I excel in hatching males, but from the minute those eggs are set I know unneeded cockerels are destined for the freezer.
