We have so many hawks here in my own backyard! Our tree branches go all the way to the ground, which the hawks will not attempt to go there.
Will the hawk be back.... Most likely. They are extremely persistent creatures. They don't care if your two feet away, they'll still go after your flock.
The hawks will kill big hens by strangling the chickens necks with their nasty talons.

Chickens are much easier pray then a rabbit. Hawks have the best sight, they can see a tiny mouse while high up in the air.
