Let me say starting off that nothing at my home goes to wast including the rice I use to ferment for use of cooking such as Fermented sweet Rice cakes and the rice I use to make my home made Sake.
I squeeze all I can out of the rice before and then set it out to dry before I feed it to my Chickens and Turkeys but there must be a small amount of alcohol left because I just fed about 4 pounds of it to my Chickens and Turkeys
for the first time this morning and they are going crazy for it and I noticed a few of them look like they might have a little BUZZ going on with a few side stepping not staggering but very happy and running around the yard with a little more dance in there step you know 123 123 turn.
All they need now is a Sparkly ball and the dance is on.

LOL, love "chicken TV"! Might not hurt to try rinsing the rice well before drying.

We don't like to waste anything either...if they won't eat it, it goes in the composter. One of our neighbors has taken to brewing beer, so we scammed the spent grain and dried it out on the driveway...that'll be a nice treat for them :)

That's what I,m talking about plus did you know that almost anything fermented is great for the digestive system animals and humans.
There are enzymes in the fermented grain that is what your system needs to be healthy after all we are host to bacteria and Enzymes and to be healthy we need them as they need use.
I,m sorry if I sound like a fruit loop but I would rather eat something that keeps me healthy than spend money at a Clinic or a Hospital and all they do is throw pills at you or want to remove an organ LOL.
Try making a Fermented sweet rice cake its got a different taste to it but good and my family loves them
after I eat one I will belch and to me that is a sign of the bacteria or enzymes working in my gut.
I did not get to close to my Turkeys but they may have been belching as well LOL.

LOL...I've got a mental picture of that and it's making me giggle. I once saw a documentary of monkeys of some sort eating fruit that had fallen and started to ferment. They got pretty loopy and the next morning they were all sitting there holding their heads!

I didn't realize that the fermentation process provided that sort of enzymic activity...good to know! I do give my girls live culture yogurt regularly along with ACV in their water. We all gotta have the right intestinal flora for everything to work right ;)

Im gonna go completely off topic and ask what is fermented rice I have never heard of it? Im always looking for new recipes for rice, id love to see one. And how funny it must have been to see them all buzzed, makes me wonder can you give turkeys or chickens beer?

Fermented Rice you can find Recipes go to you-tube and type in how to make fermented rice.
Then look for Asian recipes with fermented Rice such as sweet fermented rice cakes.
I would not give Turkeys Beer but you could give them the grains used to make beer waist not want not.

I read in another thread, I don't quite remember where, but the writer lives close to a brewery and goes there to buy spent grains from beer making to feed her chickens, so the grain must have a lot of nutrition left in it and whatever grains you ferment will be higher in protein than before it was fermented. Fermenting process pulls protein out of the air like legumes pull nitrogen out of the air and puts them into the soil. Fermenting wine, takes the impurities out of the grape juice like melting gold ore takes the "trash" out of it and leaves only the pure gold behind. The bible even talks about fermented grape wine (Ya yen) in Greek(not sure of the spelling but that's the way it is pronounced) being symbolic of the purity of Jesus' blood, for Communion.
