This is a strange trait showing up! I hatched out two Black Australorp eggs, and my rooster is a Blue Wheaten Ameraucana. The two chicks are black with white chests, and have feathered legs! That was certainly unexpected. Does anyone have an explanation for this, or is it just some strange recessive genes showing up?

Thanks!

Blue Wheatens are indeed known to have a light feather shanking to show up - I don't really know the history or explanation on this, but it has happened before.

Thanks! I didn't know that. I guess that explains it! They should be some interesting looking EEs.
