El ropo de nope-o. Not an entry, I'm sitting this one out, but I will still share some pics.

Awesome shot! Man! I am so glad we haven't seen any on our property yet.
Luckily it was still chilly in the mornings and early in the season when I took that. Jerk was about 6 feet off the side of a very popular hiking trail here. I was shooting him from a safer distance with a telephoto, but we walked right past him without knowing he was there until he asked us to please keep moving. Fortunately I was already wearing my brown hiking pants.

The rangers ended up closing off that part of the trail until he decided to move along.

I was. But we had the kids with us and I needed to get them far enough away to make sure they were safe, so I did that, then took pics, THEN my brain kicked in and told me how stupid that was. Didn't stop me from doing it again a couple years later with a different one though :p

With kids I'd be scared for them. The last place we lived had them, and we would usually hear them rattling to the cats, so very carefully we caught them and took them to the back of the property.

You're braver than I am. I don't have a problem moving bulls, gophers, or shovelnoses, but I will not touch a rattler with a 10 foot pole. My in-laws have a resident kingsnake now, so the rattlers stay away which is nice. I'll see if I can get some pics of the king one of these days.
