I've been thinking about upgrading to premium.

Pretty expensive for what little you get from it.

I got the Inspire 2. I liked the fancy ones with music control (which would be useful at work when I can't stop the machines to pull my phone out to change it) but I did not like the prices.

It allows one to start bingo games and custom challenges, lol.

That seems like a rather limited plus.

After several years of disavowing fitness trackers as too invasive on my privacy, I finally gave in and got a FitBit which should be arriving shortly. What do I have to do in order to compete with you guys?

You can download the app and set up an account now goofball.
All that's required to set up a Fitbit count is an email address.

Supposedly I get a free year of premium with the purchase. Whether that's useful or not I don't know.

Not useful. Just be sure to cancel it before the years over.

What does it give you? I didn't bother looking into it as I really just wanted a step tracker.

The ability to start certain types of contest.

Trust me when I tell you you will not use it It is not worth it to pay for it.
