I would not consider "shade from a stump" to be acceptable shade. They need real shade. My husband thinks it was actually a result of two male poults fighting to be the one on top. He said he had seen them fight before. Wish he would have told me, I would have separated them. I had never seen them fight. They were 6 poults in a 100 sqft area with shade from a stump with leaves and plenty of food and water. Now there are 5...I hope these 5 get along...
Okay, back to doing homework.

Sorry you lost your little guy. A wading pan (like an oil change pan) can help them cool down, too, as long as you don't let the water get warm. Of course that's not for tinies. Mine like to walk in our wee bit creek.Oh I have a tarp over their entire "run". The stump is not the only shade they have. They also have trees all around them that aren't inside the 100sqft area. Sorry should have specified.
I'll be moving them tomorrow and possibly making the run larger to maybe 200sqft and eventually make it 400 sqft when they're full grown in the next few months.

Is it possible to move them further down under those trees under real shade? Even with the roof shade, being in the direct sun like that is probably hot
I have a kiddie pool for my geese. I don't fill it since we dug out the stream. There used to be a creek through here, so we just took out the grass where it appeared to have been and now it's flowing instead of flooding our lower pasture. Anyway, the turkeys liked to walk around in that kiddie pool. Now they use the stream. Thanks I think I will put an industrial fan because they’re in the shade like every other day but their beaks are open and you can tell they’re hot. My chickens are not hot no matter the age, so I’m guessing turkeys are just different. I added new cool water and will be refilling it with cool water throughout the day. Should I put a pool in there?
Anyway, here is where they’re at
For the sake of staying on topic with the thread, I am walking a lot today refilling waterers and adding frozen bottles of water and my heart rate is staying up there. Hopefully tons of calories are burning along with fat![]()
