Let me put it this way I noticed it was gone the second I walked into my door from being out and about.

Yes. I immediately turned around and went right back to my car to go dig.
I usually can feel it fall off.
I wasn't paying attention when it happened.

and it only falls off because I keep it on the last hole. I knew I should have bought a larger band.

I once lost under/between/in a car seat one of those big, 5-inch needles that I use for weaving.
Car seats are like teenagers. They'll eat anything.
