BYC Crochet Club **ARCHIVE THREAD** NEW THREAD OPENED

Status
Not open for further replies.
I just noticed this...gah, I can hardly keep track of this thread much less a new thread for each swap, but I do agree that a new one might be better for that critter swap, baby afghan square swap/gathering, spring swap, future SS swaps...

We can keep this as our general club swap and let people know about the other ones by posting links, maybe... and use this one for questions and whatnot.

That said, I have a question... I hope I can get it right...it's hooker lingo again...

I am going to attempt a pattern and one of my previous patterns has increase stitches listed as "2 sc in the next st"... Is that the same as a HDC (half double crochet)? because if it is, I will be really happy....or does it do the same thing? because SC is still easier than DC for me. I can do it, and probably will just try, but

I am being stubborn. TIA

2 sc in next st

This means that you would make 2 sc (2 single stitches) in the next stitch (2 in 1 so to speak). Does that make sense?

Let's say you're on row 3 and it says to ch 1 and 2 sc in next st. Instead of putting 1 sc in the next 2 st, you would put 2 sc in the next 1 st.

HDC is different since it works a lot like the dc but instead of pulling through 2 loops twice, you pull through 3 loops one time.

HTH!

Thanks. Yeah I was hoping that was what *that* meant... I have been doing it for awhile and losing count occasionally because I will be going along in zone and then I forget if I put 2 in one or if I had just been continuing to sc.

Does this method do the same thing as a half double crochet? because the pattern has HDCs for its increase rows, but my other pattern has the "2 sc in one" method... Does that make sense?

You're very welcome!

Something that I normally do with patterns if I'm not sure (and especially if it's something small) - I'll follow the pattern to the letter (to the best of my ability), and if there is something that I feel works better, I will try it the next time. This makes the pattern more my own that way, plus it makes it easier for me to understand if I'm already having a hard time. Just a thought!

QS: Sorry to hear about all that bad luck. Wishing you the best and speedy recovery before the holiday.

I have been so busy the last two days. I am one of the crazies out there at 5 in the morn.

I get bargains and I have a big list. We still buy for everyone. Not my choice and I have to find stuff cheap because I don't have a lot of moolah. So it's not really my choice to be stuck shopping with herds.

Our poultry show was ok. I guess I wish we could have seen more variety. They had a lot of birds but a lot of the same breeds. I was hoping to see SS hamburgs and none!!! I met with Chooks: the chicken hat lady.

We got two birds from her. I also met pbjmaker. There were other people I wanted to visit with but Syd was ready to go after 2 hours. We got there early and looked around and once my daughter got her chicks she was ready to go home.

We shopped at the mall for a bit and headed home in the freezing rain.
Here are a couple pics of my new barred rock frizzle and black silkie. I'm also adding a pic of my 7 week old flock. Enjoy!!

This is one of my favorites and I don't know why. I just think she is beautiful. Nothing fancy just sweet as pie. I have 5 of these buttercups.

Love the chic pics chix!!!! That barred rock frizzle is adorable!!!

I hope you DH gets better Scoot, so sorry to hear he is not doing well.

If ya'll can tolerate just keeping up with this thread, it really is easier to manage just one, at least for me and Maw, in addition, it bumps the numbers up astronomically for the google searches so that you can google many of our hot topics in this thread and we pop up as one of the top 4 every time, BYC likes that. Plus if you think about it, by the time you chat on this thread, and that thread, and the other thread, you have been online way longer than you intended to, lol!! Don't mean at all to be bossy, but can we keep the crochet square/shape swapping in this thread? The critter swap is up to ya'll and I have no idea what would be best about it....

I would *much* rather that we keep it all in here. I just thought that the mods were going to get down on us if we did. Eggchel's response was that we weren't supposed to keep the new swaps in here.
hmm.png
*shrug* Maybe I am reading her wrong. I don't mind keeping up with them all in here, and didn't mean to make it sound like I minded. I like the collection of coziness....guess I was just open to either thing, because the mods might be a bit miffed and I didn't want to miff the mods....

I just boil my beets and then slather them in butter (well fake butter since I can't do dairy)...I suppose you could pickle them...those are good too.

EEE! lovemychix, those babies are adorable!!! I might have to get me some frizzles! I know I want silkies...ah to dream....

Oh Risu, it's just great that you mentioned the toys for chicks, I was thinking bout it last nite as I pulled the last square off the tp roll. "hmmm wonder if chickens played with toys?" lol
I know the gerbil loves me to open the top and toss them down, wasn't sure with the babies. lol Even the tarantula likes his roll. Funny thing tho, fuzzy's roll lasts him forever, whereas, roll-e's lasts umm maybe 5 mins. lol
ok, time to hide,....ooo someplace different... ahhh down over there...vvvv>>>>>vvvv>>>
