Ya'll are all cheery crazy hookers to like those loud colors!! lol!! I'll be happy to finish it..she said "make it BIG moma" hmmmm..Wildsky is right makes me think of that song..."I wear my sunglasses at night"!!

WELCOME TO THE THREAD SANDRA (BACKSWAMPGIRL)!!!!! Here is someone that has been on the forum as long as me! Welcome to the hooker madness Sandra! Tell Preston you are now officially a "hooker", he will flip out!!! lol!!! Signin you up for the spring swap..make any shapes you like, the hexagons are very popular right now, circles are cool, squares are fine and the triangles are very clever! No amigurumi this go round though, although I think a swap is in the works for that later, a critter trade. We are just doing crocheted shapes though..branching out a little and challenging folks a bit..plus it will make for some interesting afghans if they all get put together at some point! So happy to have you..ask any questions you have, Scoot, Skand, Rocket, Amy, Blossom, Chel, Preggers Okie, Chuck, Jennifer and Karan are on the forum a good bit in the daytime...and several others if you need help or want to gab but there is always someone to answer your questions..just ask!

Sign-Ups are now Open!

Theme: "Anything Goes" Feel free to experiment and challenge your skills for this swap! Hexagons, Circles, Squares, Triangles, or "Other" crocheted shapes are all welcomed!! (No amigurumi in this swap.)

Color: Any! Mix it up or stay the same, up to you!

Size: 6" minimum - 12" maximum. Try to be consistent though, for example, all of your squares should be pretty near the same size, all of your circles should be pretty near the same size....

Pattern: Any! Feel free to mix up your patterns and make every square different or every hexagon different, or all the same, up to you!

Number: As many as there are participants in the swap.

Dates: Chat and gab and get to know one another in this thread. Post as often as you like! Official sign-up opens on February 1, 2009 and Closes on March 1, 2009. All items are due to me no later than May 1, 2009.

New folks are encouraged to visit with us here in this thread and post and get to know us! Chickens are not required, in fact several members of this group are not chicken owners! We are always happy to have new friends here in the crochet club! We'd love to have you join the fun, join the swap or any other projects that we have going on!!!!

When you have finished your Shapes, send me a pm and I'll send you my address so that you can mail in your work.

You will be required to send your crocheted shapes in individual ziplock bags with your username and real name on each bag. In addition, you will need to send $10.00 for Flat Rate return postage. Thanks so much!!!!!! Have fun!!!

The fiesta at walmart is close but doesnt have the green in it so I had to get it off line from Carol at Do it Yarns..ebay. She is reasonable and ships fast. The pattern I'll have to write down, mostly sc, dc, vstitches and hdcs, I'll write it down. It's actually upside down in the picture, I'll take a right side up picture when I get the pattern written. Cannot imagine anyone actually liking it, lol!!!!

Reading back you guys are SO funny! I am glad to be a happy hooker, even if I am not in the blue light special speed hooking category.

And if it's the Preggers hormones for Okie, how does that explain everyone else liking colors the afghan, SE?

Maybe they are catching? It might be because it's winter and something bright looks really nice right now, at least for the Northerners. I assume that those are 3 different Sugar and Cream colors? yellow and suburst are 2 colors not one mixed? (sorry need my coffee still)...

I have to get out to join DH in the coop chores. I still have a whomping cold for the New Year, but I think it's as bad as it is going to get at least.

Happy 2009, ya'll! I've been trying to keep up with everyone's posts, even though I haven't felt much like posting lately. SE - I like the afghan, but I agree with you about the colors. They are way too bright for me!
Amy, I agree with you - I'm hoping this year is better for my family than 2008 was. I'm praying for jobs for both DS's and for my DB & DBIL. And for better finances for everyone concerned!

Hi again!
I've been meaning to post some pics from Secret Santa. Thought I'd take a minute to do that this afternoon. My SS was Karanleaf, and she sent me the neatest box! I had a great hotpad with a poinsettia flower, a "plastic bag" bag (I've already got it stuffed full!) and a snowman stationery set. My favorite, though, is the two cornhusk dolls! They jumped right onto the Christmas tree and demanded that I leave them there! Thanks, Karan, for being such a wonderful Santa!!

Notice the chicks on the bag! Is this enough to make me an official chicken person?

I wanted to brag just a little - here are a few projects that I made for Christmas gifts. One question though, do all little girls like pink & purple or is it just the ones that I know? I'm really tired of looking at those two colors!!
A baby cap with ties for under the chin, two caps for 4-yo's, and a scarf. All made with "I Love This Yarn".

And what I'm working on right now, a babyghan for our guidance counselor who's expecting a boy in about 2 weeks. Made with TLC Baby yarn. What is in the pic is "Powder Blue" even though it looks white. I'm going to alternate the pattern rows with the blue and "Naptime" variegated.

Gorgeous projects LC! I think all little girls until about age 13 like pink and purple... teens like loud colors or black.

And Karan! What a lovely SS gift. YAY! It's so wonderful to see how everyone puts their talents to useful things. I am looking forward to getting brave enough to start my afghan.... Got our heat bill today and I just about choked on my tongue. Heats going to be kept down so I need to get me some blankets made fast!
