so sorry about the loss of the favorite bird.

I'll send you a new rooster after we tame him up...but he might not be so elegant or pretty as the game bird. I don't even know what kind of rooster it will be...choices are Leghorn or New Hampshire Red...not very exciting...and I hear leghorns are mean. I am betting your kiddo will be able to scare the culprit good and plenty...I would be running from her wrath already.

The think I like least about making the critters is putting the parts together. I don't sew either. I mean I do, but it isn't my favorite thing.

to make up for my scatterbrain... Maw, how's the name for the farm going?

So many pages to read. It will take me forever to catch up.

I'm getting soooo excited about receiving everyones squares. So has everyone decided what they will make with them?

I still have mine from the spring swap, so I will probably put them all together to make something. Not sure yet until I get them in and look at them. OOOh it will be like an early X-mas present.

Maw, I hope you are feeling better and I did get to see pics of your lovely coop. I just love your nest boxes....so CUTE!!!!!!

It's been burrr cold here to...wintery. Still not ready for cold weather. It makes me want to hibernate like a bear.

I've been busy chasing my tail and it seems that I can never ever get caught up. What gets done is un-done the next day. Geeze!!!!!

Dh fixed the dryer a few weekends ago. Yahoooo!!!!

That made me happy. No more loading up heavy wet clothes to drag to laundry mat. Thank goodness it was a $30 part opposed to having to buy a new dryer.

I'm crocheting that baby blanket for my sis's new baby. I'll post a pic soon if I ever finish it. I need to hurry it up, b/c I have an afghan waiting for me to finish.

Hope everyone is doing well. I'll try to stop by more often. Life has been so busy that I haven't had time to log on lately.

Hi Kim! You were on my list to send a "we miss you" PM to.

Amy's store is in her sig and by her avatar. It's great. I could be her PR person. haha! Purr has a really nice Etsy store too.

We did not trap the mink, but we think it might have been poisoned. The day we saw it, landlord put out mole poison right by the compost pile and I don't think the mink could resist it. In any case we haven't seen it again.

I still feel kind of bad for the thing. It hadn't bothered my chickens yet...but prevention is worth A LOT.

I am rambling today...hanging out here at the hooker sister club and hoping to get some more of my projects closer to done.

Ooo, your majesty, I can PR your store too.

I don't think the prices are that high...seem reasonable to me. I don't know though, I only PR, don't have a store of my own....

And I kept looking for some chicken soup bling to send you but couldn't find any. The real thing is best anyway.

I hear ya 'bout the pages! I've found if I don't check at least twice a day, I'm generally behind a couple! hahahaha!

Love it though! This is a really warm and welcoming group whose supportive and helpful! Thank you all!

I was thinking w/ the squares, I may be able to make a friendship wrap/ shawl! I have a few various squares from other swaps in the past and a few extra squares from other completed works I've done... we'll see when I get them! hee!hee! Can't wait!!

What 'bout some others on here - whatcha planning on doing w/ your squares?

LoL!!!! I've missed everyone. Well, I'm glad the mink hasn't showed up and I hope it's gone. Those things are not so nice to our little chickie pets. They like to kill for fun, or it that the weazels, or are they they same thing????? I don't wish harm to any animal, but like to keep the flock safe.

The local hawk is coming around everyday now looking for a free meal. I guess Napoleon, my SLW roo that free ranges all day, looks to tough b/c it never bothers him.

I had to fix a hole in the run, b/c for 3 days straight some girls were getting out to hang out with Napoleon. Freida's back is so red....the little hussy.

elcunni the friendship shawl sounds like such a cool idea. You'll have to post the pattern. Please show us your knitted socks when they are complete. I saw a pattern book somewhere that I want to get on crocheting socks, b/c I don't know how to knit, yet. My daughter has a sock fetish and I've love to make her some wild ones or those arm warmers.

I bet Maw's Friendship robe will be so cool & wild looking. I love the market bags that Maw & Se made w/ their spring squares.

Queen I hope your sickie chickens feel better soon.

The cold weather doesn't help things much.

My DD was sick

on Fri and I use to make her home made chicken noodle soup w/ loads of garlic, when she was sick but she's a vegetarian now, so I had to make her home made tofou soup instead w/ a veggie base instead of chicken broth base. LOL!!!!!

Ok, back to work and critter care.

Scoot, I don't think your prices are too high. They seem reasonable to me.

Not much happening here in CA. The weather has cooled down considerably (at least for our standards!). Got the sweatpants on today! I'm taking oldest DD and DS to the Dr. this morning for their "well child" visit for the year. DD is a little nervous about shots. Reassured her that I only think she is getting the flu MIST and not the shot!

Anyway, hugs to all. I'm working on SS gift like crazy!!

Good luck taking the kids for their Dr visits. I still hate getting shots. YUCK!!!!! I hate giving blood to.

It's no fun losing a family pet.

I lost Rosemary, one of RIR girls a few months back to internal laying and last Nov we lost our Turkey Henry a Broad breasted Bronze and no we didn't eat him for Thanksgiving either. It was so sad. Esp when we lost Henry, b/c he was soooo sweet.

I think it is going to warm to the 50's today, but the wind is really whipping around making it feel cooler than it is.

I cut my fabric! Scariest part of the whole, 'let's learn how to sew crash course 101' !!! So far, so good, until I find out if I messed up, and there's no fixing when I have scissors!

Jim thinks its a coyote that got the roo. Big ole doggie footprint in the dirt. We checked for it last night, didn't see or hear it, hopefully it's either gone or the rest of the birds are put up to where he can't get to them. Poncho was in the backyard by hisself, so maybe he was just an easy target. I don't even want to go over to where he was, too lonely over there. He was the guy if he saw you, he clucked at you, made lil noises to get your attention. Loved freshly smooshed pecans. I know, I spoiled him good. Why couldn't that stupid animal get the cats? Those things are good at keepin mice away, but jeezum, we don't really like the cats. We liked Poncho!
Ah well.
Told Alyssa we'd take one of the baby game birds we hatched, and name it Poncho. She seemed okay with that, so long as we get one of the baby red ones. Wuhoo! I love it when something bad turns into a something even better.
Here's a decent pic of Poncho. Poor guy had a hard life before we got him. Was alone off to the back side of a shed for 2 years in a cage, 4 inch long spurs, and went without food more times then he was fed correctly.
