Wow, I didn't realize it's been two days since I've checked the board! I've missed so much!
Scoot - Happy belated anniversary! Maybe your DH will feel up to a celebration by the weekend.
SE - Congrats to Travis on his win! I checked his pics, and he is such a handsome young man - looks like he's about the same age as my youngest, about 22? I posted a congrats, and told him that if he comes to race @ Hickory, for you to let me know & I'll come help you cheer him on!
Skand - oh wow, I'm so sorry about your loss of Poncho. I'm sure Alyssa will be glad to know we shoot coyotes as often as we can here. Loosing a pet is so sad. Give her a big

from me!
Amy - your hats are BEAUTIFUL!!
Ris - I must have missed something. A mink? I've seen pics, and they look like overgrown rats w/fuzzy tails. Ugghhh. I'll just take my mink as a coat (yeah, right, like that will ever happen!)
All who are sick - I really hope you get better soon. Just please don't send it this way.
It's been pretty hectic here this week. My DS's were both cutting wood here for the past two days, and I fixed dinner for the whole family last night - just in time for DS1 to see a mouse run from the countertop to the stove. Nearly makes me nauseous to think about it.

I HATE MICE! Needless to say, I've cleaned everything and set traps everywhere that we (or the cat) won't step on them.
Oh, and for an introduction, my hobbies are reading, crochet, jewelry making, and anything else my sister can talk me into trying! I love blues & pinks, but I really like all colors except orange. Love chocolate (who doesn't?), almonds, cranberries & blueberries. Sometimes, all those together! Don't care for pecans or walnuts even though we have lots of both. I like scarves & hats, but it doesn't get very cold here, so I like the ones that are mostly for looks. If I could have any wish, it would be for world peace. (Oops, wait, wrong speech!)
Ya'll have a great night. Hope to "see" you tomorrow!

He's 18 Kay, my daughter will be 21 next month though so our kids are close in age...hey...22 year old boy, nearly 21 year old girl..hmmm......lol!!! Probably bad timing right ow though, she is in her junior year and really tired of school right now so a new boyfirend would be too much incentive to be more tired of school and we have to get her graduate before she gets that sick of it!! Travis is in the community college. I'll have two engineers, one with a 4 year and one with a 2 year degree ..both out at the same time I hope

elcunni the friendship shawl sounds like such a cool idea. You'll have to post the pattern. Please show us your knitted socks when they are complete. I saw a pattern book somewhere that I want to get on crocheting socks, b/c I don't know how to knit, yet. My daughter has a sock fetish and I've love to make her some wild ones or those arm warmers.

Erin the friendship shawl sounds great! I made a hippy-retro tote bag outta mine last time, pics on this thread somewhere, later had to add a handle to both side instead of the one I had but I have it stuffed with yarn right now, it's well, hippified and different, lol! I did finally get brave enough to take it to the race track some! So the tote bag idea is an option, think Maw made one too, hers was a bit more refined looking than mine, lol! Her pics are in the thread too I think. I'm going to save these and my spring ones and make a lapghan I think.

Amy, just make something that you would like and your secret santa will love it I am sure. Those hats are awesome so there's an idea right there!

Scoot, your majesty, I'll get those addresses out tomorrow, or maybe tonight when my 4 - 10's are over so the over zealous ones (yes, I'm done with mine too!) can mail them out

Gotta run, hugs..

Good morning! Not much going on here today. I've got to get my crocheted ornaments out to a swap that I've signed up for on another board. They need to be starched, ironed, & packaged up.

I'm also going to try to get some house work done. My kitchen is a mess right now. Need to get it straightened back up.

I swear, why is that when mom's are sick everyone thinks it's perfectly fine to just leave everything until she's feeling better. UGH!

Oh, well. Off to get something accomplished, right or wrong. Have a great day!

no fair! I thought I was the only one getting a jump start on the spring swap! lol I've gotten 6 done so far! Then I go and look, and poof! there's more! YAYY!! Coolness, so if we get lots this time, we might not have to save our squares to add to make enough, we'll start off with enough to get something made. Totally coolbeans!

Got Alyssa off to school this morning, she was doing good, didn't even mention Poncho, *whew*. Instead, the question today was, what sound does a bat make? Everyday, there's a new question with that girl. Usually, it's more science then biology. She loves the moon, planets, and constellations. What can I say, it's dark when we go wait. lol I love it, it's stuff that interested me, now it's interesting to her, only thing, I just know a little, she wants to know more! The big dipper and little dipper are not enough, she wants to know about Orion, Taurus and all the other stars I don't know.

Morning all!!!

Good gosh today's a full schedule.

Both kids to school, pick up son early from preschool to attend Thanksgiving feast with dd at elementary school. On the way to take dh to work, go by and get my new microwave I found on craigslist!! Then pu ds then off to feast.

After feast it's grocery shopping then home to do mountains of laundry.

Oh BTW everyone. I went to Hobby Lobby last night and they have all their fall/thanksgiving decor etc on sale for 80% off!!!! I tried hard to restrain myself from spending a ton of money. Did get a couple of neat things, though. Just couldn't leave without getting a deal or two ;-)

Scoot---very pretty hat!!

Got a used book store in your area? See if they have a used copy of a constellation guide. Then get yourself a used copy of a book on Greek mythology. Almost all the constellations are about a hero in a myth. So you can tell her the stories about the constellations you find. I used to do this for my bro & sis when we were kids waiting on the bus, back in the dark ages. Did it with my kids when they were little, too.

Bullfinch's Mythology was the one I used for the stories....

I read a LOT, er well, used to, till I had kids. Now it's keep up with all the errands having kids gives you. lol
We go to the library a lot. Just surprised me when she started asking. We've knocked out the simple questions, tooth fairy, easter bunny, santa claus. Just wasn't ready for 'is that a cresent moon phase?' from the 6 yr old. I spend my day deciphering the 3 yr old saying she's thirsty enough for a mick, which is a caterpiller...huh? lmaoo
