ok thanks!I use acrylic paint. After I paint them, I seal them with a non-glossy paint sealer(though it tends to take a while before I do so.). I've figured out with a few of my rock paintings that I should probably paint them with an outdoor acrylic paint if I plan to display them outside because occasionally the regular acrylic paint starts to wear off. I did paint a koi pond on a flat landscaping rock, but the base is wearing off after being outside all winter.
For fine lines and details, it is best to thin the paint with a little water so it is a inky-like consistency. I draw on the rock first with pencil(I paint the base color on the rock first if it is going to be white, black or brown), then outline the pencil lines with black paint and fill in with color and details. Smooth rocks with no sharp edges are best for painting animals. Flowers can be painted on more jagged rocks.![]()
I do a little, but not near as good as yours.....Does anyone else here work with pastels?
