BYC Guinea hen club

Do I pen her up when I notice them begin breeding, or is there a certain month of the year (like next spring sometime?) that I need to do it before they start? See, this is my first time having guineas like this. Growing up they were always pretty much wild & came & went & did as they pleased around the property. Thinking back now, I realize they actually did die out (or they migrated somewhere else)  bc we would see fewer until I stopped seeing them at all. Once I do cage her, I assume its 24/7, but is it all year long for now on? That'll determine what size an area I'll make for them. Also, can I just keep my male in with her? They've always been together, so if she gets anxious being alone, i'd like to put him with her. Thanks so much for the advice!

Within I week of seeing them breed pen her up and him if you want to. I use mine to keep the bugs in check. When you pen her up make her a nest that is secluded if you find eggs elsewhere put them in the nest. If she sees the eggs she will lay there. After you build her secluded nest and have 1 or 2 eggs in it stay away unt she hatches. She will quit the best if you don't. If you let her she will raise the keets if you keep them penned up. All I can say is watch her. You should be safe from late fall til about April during that time you can let them free range.

Thank you, I was also needing the same information.

I'm up to five keets! One white, three pieds and one very loud pied. There might be a couple more viable eggs under the guinea, but that's it, the majority of them were bad or not fertile.

I went from 15 to 50 guineas! I've still got 9 in the incubator and 10 + in the nest in the birdhouse. Every time I think i'm through they lay more!

RIP... I found him dead in the pen. Not a mark on him!
