Local Woman Charged After Her Chickens Cross Road

Updated: Friday, March 20, 2015
By: The Associated Press

MILLERSBURG, PA – Why did the chickens cross the road? The answer may come in a Pennsylvania courtroom.
State police this week cited an owner of pet chickens for disorderly conduct after a neighbor [Justin Gruber, Junior Pentacostal Pastor] reported seeing some of her fowl acting out the age-old riddle.

Troopers say the chickens went AWOL Tuesday and wound up in the 26-year-old Millerburg man’s yard.
Anneliese Dorson faces up to 90 days in jail and up to a $300 fine if convicted of the summary offense.

She did not immediately respond to a Facebook message. Her profile lists one of her occupations as “the chicken farm” and features dozens of pictures of chickens.

It’s unclear if her feathered friends will also face charges. Millersburg is about 25 miles north of Harrisburg.

I also live in this general area and I have to say this is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of. I am guessing there is some "history" between these neighbors that the rest of us are not aware of. I have had chickens, cows, sheep, goats, dogs, and a horse in my yard, none of which belonged to me, and I would never dream of involving the police. We simply locate the owner and try to help them return their animal to it's home. RIDICULOUS!
