Come say hello to Amy who comes to us from California and has been a member since July 2022.

1. Tell us a bit more about yourself. And is there a story behind your member name?
My name is Amy, I have a husband of 40 years and we have 3 children and 8 grandchildren. The story behind my member name is it stands for Amy and Kevin 10/85, the month and year we got together.

2. Why and when did you start keeping poultry?
I started keeping chickens in April of 2023. I got them to keep the family from having to spend outrageous money on store bought eggs.( It didn't work, so more eggs for me 😁 ).

3. Which aspects of poultry keeping do you enjoy the most?
I love getting the eggs but being able to walk outside and have my chickens follow me around the yard is just so relaxing and peaceful.

4. Which members of your flock, past and present, stand out for you and why?
I have 3 that stand out the most: Darlin is a sweetheart and she's good with the grandkids, Cheeks is always wanting to walk with me wherever I go and Mohawk is my little curious George, she wants to be anywhere I am including inside the house.

5. What was the funniest poultry related thing that has happened to you in your years as an owner?
Darlin and Little One were out dust bathing and suddenly decided that they needed to sun bathe and I thought they were dead.

6. Beside poultry, what other pets do you keep?
I have a dog and rabbit. I know that my ducks are also poultry but I have to mention them too because they are also part of the family.

7. Anything you'd like to add?
I love having my animals and I love being a part of the BYC community. This is Mohawk and Miss. Below is Cheeks.
