Come say hello to Anna! She has been a member since July 2020 and comes to us from New York state.​


1. Tell us a bit more about yourself.
Hi, my name is Anna, I live on a small farm in upstate NY.

We have cows, pigs, goats, chickens, ducks, guinea fowl, rabbits, and a dog!
I enjoy spending time with my animals, photography, baking, sewing, reading, gardening and more!


2. Why and when did you start keeping chickens? (or any other poultry you have)
My family has had chickens since before I was born, so my whole life I've had chickens but I just got 6 ducks last spring!

3. Which aspects of poultry keeping do you enjoy the most?
I enjoy all aspects of raising poultry I don’t really have one in particular that I enjoy more than the others. They are all so different and fun I really can't choose!

4. Which members of your flock, past and present, stand out for you and why?
I love all my birds, but my favorite would have to be Posy my little Welsh Harlequin duck. Here is a picture of my little Posy:

-I probably have a better picture somewhere, but I have so many I can't go through them all :lol:

5. What was the funniest poultry related thing that has happened to you in your years as an owner?
Probably the time that I was watching my ducks swim in their pond, (at the time I didn’t know ducks could swim underwater) so I was watching them swim when a branch from a tree close by cracked and fell, turned to look at it and when I looked back at the pond where my ducks were swimming and they were gone! Someone had told me that the breed of ducks that I have can fly away, so I thought they had flown away, I was just standing there like how am I ever going to get these things back when all the sudden one popped up from underwater! Then they all came up, I was absolutely shocked! But now looking back at it, it was pretty funny. :)

6. Beside poultry, what other pets do you keep?
Well, we keep cows, goats, rabbits, chickens, ducks, and our dog as pets, the ones that are mine are the ducks and Garnet my little Nigerian Dwarf goat and her two babies.
