I hide behind a wall I've built
to shadow out the world.
To the untrained eye you see
rocks of every hue.
To me, who hides behind them
they are black and gray and blue.
Rocksy of many shapes and sizes
lovely to behold,
but all I see are cold gray squares
that fill with awe my soul.
You see a lovely cornerstone
supporting well you'd say,
but I see the cracks and crumbling stones
that will fall on me someday.
