I have come to this place,
At a steady pace,
Not to run a race,
But to face my fear,
Hoping it will not appear,
I walk into the shadows.
Many thoughts run through my head,
Thoughts about what is ahead,
What sicknesses could be spread.
I look around and see only darkness,
I do not think of a positive remark,
For I am afraid of the dark,
If only they was some sort of spark,
To get away from the dark.
I hear something approach,
Almost that sounded like a cockroach,
It came nearer and nearer,
Until I could feel the smell of death,
Merely in his breath.
I took a step back,
Only to see the utter black,
For I wish to see what is lurking beside me,
Oh, I wish to see the light,
For I just want something bright.
I feel the creature take a step closer almost in my face,
Only wanting some grace,
But this creature would not give an embrace,
But merely some of disgrace.
I feel it step on my little feet,
There was no running back,
Out of this black.
I was finished.
I felt it come closer to me,
I was finished, I was finished!
Only to diminish!
I felt it grab me,
How I wished to see,
What this horrible creature to be,
And once again thought with glee,
I am finished! I am finished!
Only to diminish!
When suddenly a light,
Something very bright,
Was seen in this horrible night,
I looked over to see what was causing this fight,
But I saw nothing,
It was merely a thought of my imagination,
This gave me great invigoration,
For I will never be afraid of the dark again...
Never again..........
