Technically hatch day is Friday so don't get concerned until then.Same here. Maybe they were a day behind because my incubator wouldn't heat up on the first day. OOH while typing this I heard a peep. I'm not sure which egg it is, but looks like we're getting pips soon!

I'll be adding a spongeThat's so frustrating. here's a baby chick to spread some positivity.Yesterday the humidity held at 65% today it's hovering around the mid 50's with both channels filled.I'll be adding a sponge
Does your incubator have a feeding trough, or did the chick just faceplant in a weird position? That's so frustrating. here's a baby chick to spread some positivity.

The plates don't generally put out enough heat for that to be an issue - they can cool off just by lying at the edge, so they're sticking out from underneath slightly, or by moving to the side where the plate is higher if it's set up at an angle. I agree it might be difficult for them to cool off effectively in that small a space if 20+ other chicks all have the same idea at once though.Chicks are good at self regulating, if they weren't brooder plates would be useless. Having them confined to the heated side could cause heat stress or dehydration.
That's too funny, lolJust face planted Weird .
They have their head between the wall of the incubator and the bar that turns the egg trays.
