When I asked my oldest son (now 23, about 13 at the time) if he had a phone jack in his new bedroom when we moved, he asked if that was the thing we use to charge phones in the truck.

Our house doesn't have any! It was built early to mid 2000's so it makes sense, but I was dumbfounded.

I watched the tray on this incubator for a few hours now and something doesn't seem right. Every two hours it will shift from the far right to the far left, then immediately back to the far right. It looks to me like the eggs aren't getting fully rotated. They're also being moved back into their original position after being tilted 1/4 - 1/2 turn for a few seconds.

I'm attaching a video in case my description of the issue isn't clear:

Should the eggs be rotated 360 degrees, or is slight tilting sufficient to prevent the embryo from adhering to the shell/membrane?

From the videos on that listing it looks like the starting position should be to set it up with the tray on one side or the other, not centred. Does that solve the issue?

No. The puzzling part is that it shifts then goes back to its previous position within a few seconds. If it moved right, then stayed there until the next turn I wouldn't be as concerned.

After checking on the incubator several times yesterday I realized I never saw the back/bottom of the eggs, only the top.

It's entirely possible I'm overthinking it and should just leave it be.

Edit: Ok, I was overthinking it. After writing this I checked on the eggs and they've actually turned over with the backside up, in resting position.

There's a small rod attached to a spindle. The rod goes into a slot on the tray. When the spindle turns the tray moves. I don't see any way to adjust it manually. Let me double check the instructions.

So reading this has my newbie self questioning. Do they need to completely flip?! The incubator I’m using turns them from far right to far left every few hours or so. The top of the egg has stayed upright the entire time just leans them from side to side. I have just been letting it do its thing cause they’re definitely getting shifted in direction. Different incubators turn the eggs different amounts and on different axes. Some hold the eggs with the blunt end facing upwards and tilt it from side to side; some have the eggs lying on their side and roll them so different sides are facing up and down. The most important thing is that they aren't spending all or most of the time in the same position.
