Heat shouldn't bother rubber bands. And if it doesn't work, easily removable.

I'll play with different ideas at another time with fake eggs, maybe later this week, but for now I candled and moved them to the other incubators. I'll be posting the video in a minute after it finishes uploading to youtube.

When I candled I saw good air cell development, but not much else. It's about what I'd expect on day 1.

That made me wonder . . . if an egg was never fertilized, meaning the hen was never with a rooster, would an air cell still develop?

This pondering has me thinking I might buy a 1/2 dozen store bought eggs to check out of curiosity.

I might see if I can find those in my area. I honestly do have enough black chickens running around my yard, lol, but really wanted darker eggs. The hens and roos are beautiful too

I had these eggs shipped from Florida. Unfortunately, I don't think many (if any) tolerated usps.... I'm at least a year and a half from having fertile eggs.

I'm a lot closer to Florida than Cali, what hatchery did you get them from?

If you can wait until I get back to the home state later this week, I'll candle one of Black Sunday White's eggs and let you know. Guaranteed not infested with rooster ejaculate.
