BYC's 2025 Spooktacular Halloween Hatch-Along

Pics
I've decided to move all the eggs to the large bin incubator w the wonky rollers once it gets up to temperature. That way if the power goes out, which has happened with my last two hatches, I'll only have one incubator to worry about. I'll just have to keep an eye on them and make sure they don't bunch up or get turned sideways.

Edit: I also figure it's better to move them now in case there are any early pips. Once the shell is breached things get dicey if the humidity varies too much.

The move took longer than I would've liked. Before moving the eggs I put rubber bands (hair ties) on the rollers as @jxp suggested. I also made sure to place them so that none of them were touching/rubbing against the egg in the next row/column(?). I also made sure the eggs were resting on the rollers, rather than between them. Oddly, this isn't covered in the manual, but it makes more sense to me.

I'll update later this evening once I'm able to tell if they're bunching up.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who has ended up switching incubators during a hatch

Yeah I was using our Styrofoam incubator but then the temp kept fluctuating, come to learn after we got the new one it was likely just the thermometer. But either way I got the maticoopx and switched them to it decided it's more reliable and we will keep the styrofoam one as a backup.

Sorry for the long paragraph

I had 5, one I realized only had temp in C, another the humidity wouldn't go below 34% not matter what I did (I'm dry hatching for the first time) the 3rd was the large bin that caused the eggs to bunch up after 4-5 hours. The last two seemed to be working great, but don't have a lot of space for when chicks start hatching.

I'm really hoping the rubber bands on the rollers works with the large bin incubator. It's the only one I have that accepts an ATV battery in the event of a power outage (no I don't have one yet, lol) and everything else worked great with it. 🤞
