I finally switched to using hair sticks this summer, and I think I'll be sticking with them.

I don't know if you've ever tried them, but I've found hair sticks work really well for me. I have a ton of really fine hair, so keeping it up without breaking is a challenge. Hair clips never worked as they just slide right out the moment I start moving and with hair ties I would have to have so tight I was risking breaking them to keep my hair up.
I finally switched to using hair sticks this summer, and I think I'll be sticking with them. Once you get the motions down, they hold your hair up really well. I had no issues with it falling out while working at a greenhouse or hiking. An added benefit is that any stick shaped object will work in a pinch.

Wish the camera wanted to focus a bit better, but you can see the general idea.
I use a figure 8 bun with mine since I found that the easiest.

It is very pretty. I never could figure out how to do stuff like that with my hair.
