I hate this especially because I have a long complicated name and it irritates me that nobody in the history of the world can remember it so I just feel like a hypocrite for forgetting a name like Jan or Samuel

I guess that's one advantage of having a name that's the title of a Jane Austen novel: it's short and people usually remember it. I'm terrible at remembering other peoples' names, though.
