My Family is mostly from Illinois, one time we flew back to visit and a tornado touched down as soon as we landed .
The flight attendants told us to forget the carry ons and get off the plane quickly and it was about an hour before they brought all carry ons out to distribute them.
My grandparents picked us up and pretty much spent the next hour driving to their house dodging the tornado: sheets of rain making it almost impossible to see, lightning, wind pushing the car, branches and debris flying past. Every so often he drives on the wrong side of the road to avoid a tree, hydroplaning smoothly back into the right lane. My brother and I just terrified, quietly crying in the back of the van.
Meanwhile, my grandparents are arguing about the last Highschool Girls softball game and "Blue Mound has a really good team this year and should give Decatur a good fight for the championship, by the way, where would you like to eat?"
