I can't help myself. I have about 20 chickens living on my property in the city, my neighbors hate animals, I don't NEED anymore chickens but i WANT them. Yestarday I went to the feed store to buy more chicken food and I came home with
1 50 pound bag of chicken food
1 20 pound bag of chick starter
1 20 pound bag of flock raiser
1 large bag of shavings
3 ducklings
6 chicks

I just can't help it, they are too cute and every time I go to the feed store I try to avoid the bird brooders, but they call to me. I eventually end up passing by them, their little faces staring up at me and I just can't stop myself from reaching in and grabbing one or six or nine.
Does anyone else have this problem???

You have it bad. I stayed out of TSC during chick days. I sent the DH to get feed, so I wouldn't bring any home this year. But know my Meyer hatchery catalog has been calling to me.

Oh, good lord, no, you are not alone in this!

Almost 3 wks ago, I put the 6 adolescent chicks in the segregation coop & run, moved the 9 big chickens to the new coop, and put away the brooder and heat lamp.

Ran out of grower feed. Have plenty of layer feed, because the layers are currently helping themselves to the grower feed I put out for the ducks....

Went to the feed store yesterday to get 50# of grower feed. Yes, I looked into each and every bin and almost swooned at the six different types of ducklings available. They all ran to my hand and nibbled on me.

Noop, noop, noop, can't get more ducks. Got a pair, these are all straight run, I can't risk getting another drake. *sigh*

Oh, LOOK! Bantam Silver Sebrights!! Hmmm, straight run. But there are two chicks in the bin older than the others, about 2 wks old, nice feathered wings already...

So I came home with 50# of grower feed, a bag o' freeze-dried mealworms (SCORE!), 3# of food grade DE (another score!), 40# of BOSS (third score!), 10# of chick starter and two little Silver Sebright chicks.

I simply could not help it.

LOL I know the feeling. DH said no more new breeds of chickens till we finish up the coops for all the breeds we have. SOOOO well a few day ago I bought 4 baby ducks !! He didn't say anything about ducks!

I don't have any problem at the feed stores anymore, since the time I did purchase some and they all turned out to be aggresive birds. Now that I have an incubator tho...well, put it this way, I HAD 6 chicks and thought "this will be plenty" at present I have 13 mature birds, 6 in the grow out pen and two different egg purchases I'm waiting to be delivered so I can incubate them...and I thought 6 was gonna be plenty...BWAHAHAHAHA....it's insidious isn't it??

Luckily I haven't been hit by this yet. I don't have chickens yet but I am building my coop. I went to TSC to get brooding supplies, and I was able to walk past the chicks. Well okay I did stay and talk to them for a while but I didn't get any. Some of them looked sick compared to the few that were running around peeping.
