Now I have 8 children, and only my last one was a c-section. Its a good thing too. She weighed 9lbs. 1oz.! Which to some people isn't so big! Unfortunately, my 3rd child, my daughter, came in weighing 8lbs. 12oz. and broke her collar bone! I had shoulder dystocia with her. My ob said that any bigger, and we would have been in big trouble. Now mind you, that was my 3rd child. My 6th child, another girl, weighed only 8lbs. had a tough time too, she was severely bruised and had jaundice very bad. My 7th child, again, another girl, came in weighing 8lbs. 14oz. and I had a horrible time trying to get her out. My poor doctor handled it like a champ. The nurse told me, that if she hadn't come out with that last push, she'd have to get emergency help. What help, I don't know.

She had some problems with nerve damage, but with time, she was lucky, it went away. Then comes my last child, another girl, and she was a planned c-section! Lucky, my 4 boys were easier to deliver, and weighed less than most of my girls, lol! So you never know. Yes, it is major surgery, and shouldn't be taken lightly. If you are able to have a vaginal birth, then by all means. Hoping for the best for you and your new addition.

I have had both and the c-section was a lot worse. I was in hard labor for 16 hours with my first child and thought the c-section would be better. It's hurts pretty bad.

But, of course, so does labor.

Welcome to our world. If you noticed, I am the father of 6 boys and 1 girl. It took us 7 tries to get the girl.

DW had to have the last two C-section. She had two miscarriages inbetween #5 and #6 and I think the female ER doc tried to make it so my wife wouldn't be able to have anymore kids when she did the D&C. I've never seen anyone be so BRUTAL.

Anyway. We have two wonderful babies from the C-sections. One is developmentally disabled and will probably live with us for the rest of his life, and the other (our only girl) is a freaking GENIUS! Go figure.

I was induced which lead to a c-section. The wound was infected a week later and I had to go back into the hospital for another 3 days. I heard of women that have had them and have had no problems, but I would avoid it like the plauge if I were you. Good luck!!

how awful! i had a miscarriage once, but i decided against the d and c, since i am a total coward. some doctors are pretty terrible though, thats for sure.

c-sects scare the poo out of me. i dont understand why anyone would willing go in for one unless it was absolutely necessary. i am glad all my babies were little lol.

I have 5 children. They weighed 9Lbs5oz, 9Lbs13oz, 10Lbs2oz, 9Lbs1oz and 10Lbs2oz.
The 4th child was my c-section baby. We had placenta previa. I was cleared for vaginal delivery, but apparently the doctor was mistaken and I was taken in by ambulance for an emergency c-section.
Afterwards my self-esteem was shot when I thought of childbirth. It was like, I used to be able, not only to have a child naturally, but have a child that most women couldn't have passed. And now its over.
When I got pregnant again I called my nursing instructor and she guided me in the right direction to studying v-bac. I was very excited by the prospect of have a baby naturally again. I went through the delivery fine at 41 years of age.
I have had problems with a few high sugar levels, but when I had fasting glucose tolerance tests they came out fine.
Notice that the smallest was my 4th child....the c-section baby. My babies are big, but so am I. I would look stupid holding a 7Lb baby. No one thinks my babies are big when I'm holding them; just when they go to pick them up, they start looking really big. I know that some women that have big babies eventually become diabetic, but in my case I really think it is a proportion thing.
I never wanted a surgery. I hope my c-section is the last surgery I ever have. It was an easy delivery, but I was super weak after and they pumped me up with so much fluid that I had pregnant feet for almost 2 weeks. Then I have this ugly scar running down my abdomen that I shouldn't. Its just not natural......its just not me.

I had 2 c/s and then a vbac and I definitely wouldn't elect to have another c/s! The recovery is so much harder. My second c/s recovery wasn't too bad, but it still wasn't anything compared to how easy the vba2c recovery was.

Of course, if I had a medical need, I'd have a c/s in a heartbeat.

Anyway, I don't think one test proves diabetes, especially if you ate something sugary right beforehand. And big babies aren't impossible to birth. I have a friend who had a 12 pounder at home with no medication and didn't even tear, and she's only like 5'4"
