CA Whites

I got my 6 CA Whites!

2 were dead

1 is so bow legged it can't stand up!
1 has a real bent foot
1 has a horrible pasty butt: I keep washing with warm water now it looks as though it's coming out
1 sleeps a lot

I know this isn't the best time to get chicks but the others are Great

1 Brown?

are CA White (leghorn mix) so delicate?

Cali whites are a bit different from leghorns but almost the same in principle. I bet it was just the batch you had, or the strain they were from. Of all the birds I raise in quantity, I've had two leghorns of commercial strains drop dead on me just before laying, and one RIR do the same. I think it's something to do with their commercial breeding for eggs and thus lower viability in other aspects of their health. Oh I've gone though about 30 of each at least.
