Chocolate eggers are mutts with a fancy name, and probably half a scam since the page is now offline.

I've got that shade of brown from Isa brown eggs I bought at the grocery store. Just stick to real breeds if you want a specific trait. You want chocolate eggs? That's what BCM are for.

I've raised BCM and Wheaton Maran for many moons- right now I got Black-Tailed Red Maran pullets that are just starting to lay.

I saw the Chocolate eggers on Cackle early this year and have been hoping that someone would post some pics of the eggs....I thought I'd finally come across these elusive and hard to find eggs

Someone has them cause Cackle sold the heck out of them this season....

Where are you chocolate egger owners?!?!?!

Also if you or anyone knows how to tell a Black Copper Maran vs a Midnight Majesty Maran apart that would be great! I got a group of 4 that are an Americana Easter Egger, Rhode Island Red, Silverudd, and a black Maran but he didn’t know what kind of black Maran. Thanks!

Did they know the gender? If they're sex linked they'll probably be the majesty maran, with a light dot on the top their head iirc. If the chick is all black it's probably a different maran. Pure black copper Marans are also a little harder to come by in general

She is a she! She has fluffier feet than the “chocolate eggers” but dont see any copper in her neck. My guess is she is actually a BCM and not a midnight majesty due to her excessive feathered feet and what i believe are pretty dark eggs! Never will be 100% certain though!

I somehow do not have any pictures from all this time! I have one here in a basket so that is a Chocolate Egger egg with a Barred Rock egg and RIL egg! I would say they are a steady 5-7 on the Maran chart. Wished for darker but every once in a while we get an 8! Cant complain too much!

I have somehow lacked taking pictures of the eggs they have produced! I will try to hold on to the slower production to get a few together to show them more! I have one picture I just posted in this thread but they are mostly in the 6 or 7 range of maran color chart with a 5 scattered in. Can’t complain too much for a breed that gets a little buzz!
