I ordered some LF Buff Cochins from Cackle Hatchery years ago and they were very nice birds. They probably wouldn't have won any poultry shows, but they were very large, beautiful, and gentle birds. I can't promise of course that the quality is still the same as it was then.

Didn't get cochins, but every chick I've gotten from Cackle has been big, healthy and fast out of the gate. Quality birds.

Baby pics, i will try to post pics often as they grow :)

The babies moved outside this week, haven't had to turn the heat lamp on since its been too hot. The white looks like it may feather in buff.

Babies were doing good without a lamp until the day before yesterday, then we had to turn it back on when the temperature dropped. Everyone is growing great and feathering in. No obvious cockerels yet.

I always order the Cackle Hatchery Surprise. I usually get some Cochin in the box, and they usually go to friends. I kept two black Cochins two years ago. This year I kept a Gold Laced and White.

My Blacks were big, the rooster didn't start crowing until he was 6 months old.

The white is small, so maybe a bantam or slow grower.

I will say, the blacks and the white had/have vulture hocks. Puke. I hate vulture hocks.

I'm extremely happy with the Gold Laced so far...

Babies are growing fast. Buffs and gold laced have the best cushions. About half or so of them have vulture hocks, but so far turning out pretty. A partidge and my pretty splash cockerel go out and my dog used them for a chew toy :( but the remaining 14 are doing great.
