I have seen several hatcheries that offer an extra chick, and they all give you a choice to accept or refuse it. So if you cannot have roosters, and if the free chick is likely to be a male (McMurray's usually are), then you just refuse the free chick. No problem.Just hopping on here to say if this is true, that's the worst possible business practice. Many people buying chicks aren't allowed to have roosters. I know with Meyer Hatchery (only hatchery I've ever used), they state if you order meat birds, your extra will be a meat bird, if you order laying hens your extra will be a laying hen.
Murray McMurray quality was close to perfect for my order. Apart from Rachet, every bird I got fit what they should look like and it was one of the lowest loss rates I had this spring, an impressive feat since they on the other side of the country.Thats why you should use meyers hatchery or mypetchicken.com those are the only hatcherys I trust and there really great mc murray hatchery shipping wise is good bt bird qauilty wise is horrible there cream legbars are messed up I have no idea whats in their breeding pen whats so ever same with their red laced cronish and many other breeds.
Maybe they didn’t have any more girls available that day or just made a mistake. They might have not had any left over after orders.plus an extra BUT they assured me I would get a girl.
Obviously these birds will not be show quality. Hatcheries don't breed for that but they still look like their breedMurray McMurray quality was close to perfect for my order. Extras being males should not be a surprise. Males are what they have extras of. Packing peanuts are almost exclusively male because it makes sense. Lots of people outside of town order lots of birds too. It's not exclusively in town people buying only hens
Oh, your clovers momma? How's she doing? Two extra chicks isn't normal for them, they usually only send one. I already stated in your other post that clover must've been snuck in by an employee to give it a chance, behind managements back. As far as the extra roo, well, that's why they send an extra chick for the just in cases. That is true but I did expect a refund (at the time) for clover.
I don’t know if it’s still true or not but it used to happen A LOT. But yeah, never happened to me with Meyer. The extra was another one of a breed I had ordered and female. But sometimes hatcheries include packing peanuts to help the chicks stay warm in winter and those are often roosters.Just hopping on here to say if this is true, that's the worst possible business practice. Whats thats not fair. I recived my crested cream legbar they were not auto sexable at all and once they turned 6 weeks they looked nothing like a cream legbar they looked like a mix breed look and the red laced cronish I orderd were too small I thought they were bantams and one had barring patterns instead of lacing all though the barring is prettyMurray McMurray quality was close to perfect for my order. Cackle Hatchery, much like every other hatchery, does not guarantee 100% success in sexting. Thats why they send an extra chicks, that and just incase of a loss. They state this before an order is placed, therefore it isn't just for them to refund for an accidental roo. It will always be a risk with any chicks, regardless of where you get them. As far as the 4 legged chick, that is unacceptable. It doesn't take much time or effort to quickly visually inspect a chick for defects before shipping. That is poor on their employees part, but the sexting is no guarantees and not a reason for a refund. They are fairly reputable for proper sexting, but there is always that risk of a roo anywhere and any time. When i go into the hatchery, they definitely look out for the best interest of their chicks. They ask the customers to use proper hygiene in their facility. They thoroughly educate you and ask questions about their transport and housing to determine the best outcome and health for the chicks even before they leave their facility. I have been very pleased with them, will continue to use them, and do recommend them.
She's doing AWESOME she loves being outside full time for sure! All the grass!!Oh, your clovers momma? How's she doing? Two extra chicks isn't normal for them, they usually only send one.
