I have wanted chickens my whole life and finally had the opportunity to start a flock. I got my chicks from Cackle Hatchery in April, and so far have been very pleased. I am not interested in showing my chickens, but definitely interested in quality birds. I am wanting to add to my flock in the spring, and was planning on ordering a few more from them at that time. I plan to have a self sustaining flock going forward so as not to continue to have to order. Just wondering what experience anyone has with the Cackle Hatchery stock to start and maintain a sustainable flock. As I stated earlier, I have had 100% happiness with my current flock - no complaints. The more I read, my only concern is how true to standard the hatchery stock is, not for show purposes, but for sustainability purposes. Being a beginner, I haven't known much of what to look for, but learning more every day. Any information / experiences to be shared would be appreciated!!!!
