Cackle hatchery

I ordered 3 chicks from cackle hatchery but they just called me and told me their minimum is 15 chicks in a box. They said I can either order 12 more chicks or pay 20 more dollars and have them "specially packaged". What does this mean?

It means they'll put in heat packs so the chicks can stay warm.

You may end up with some "packing peanuts" too. Packing peanuts are Roos.
