Cackle or Ideal???

Witch hatchery should order from i want to order the chick ASAP! nowish would be good......by the end of this weeek. I live in Maine. any one order birds in the winter time that lives in a cold regian ??? witch should i order from??

also in general witch would you guys order form?

Have you thought about Myers Hatchery? They would be closer.

Neither. Sorry, but I'd get them locally. You might not have as big a variety, but you'd get them faster and make more friends. Plus you'll actually see the birds and their parents, not photos or illustrations of birds the seller doesn't actually own.

Of the two you listed, I've only ordered from Cackle and they have good quality and friendly service, but if you are wanting them now, that may be an issue since when I ordered mine, I ordered two orders, two months apart, and recieved them 5 days apart, so that means I had to wait 2 months on the first order. But that one was turkeys, it may be different if you are getting chicks and depending on the breed, but cackle does have decent quality birds.

i like cackle........plus if you want to, you can put a rush on your order. you can pick an alternate breed or breed incase a lack of availability of the origional chick you wanted at the exact time you wanted. i like them, friendly, and great birds , great prices ....i like them.

My first adventure into ordering live chicks last year was through Cackle. I ordered from them because they had what I wanted breed wise and I liked their prices and specials. I was very happy with the quality of the birds and the customer service was wonderful - very helpful folks. So this year I ordered from them again.

Not that I need to order any live chicks, I just LOVE their specials. and we wanted some geese and ducks so we just ordered them together. I asked for a mid-march delivery but do to being breed specific, they emailed and said it would be Mid-April. BUT, big but here!, they were very prompt in emailing about the delay and asked if I wanted to make changes. I said no april was fine, but the customer service out there is great!

When you order, make sure it's a hatchery, & not a "middle-man" just transferring your order. I made that mistake & paid much more than if I'd ordered straight from the hatchery. Some hatcheries are not hatcheries at all, just someone making a buck off of your order. Do some research!
