A few weeks ago, we made a feeding station in our run. We couldn't find the kind of stones I wanted at Lowe's and so we decided to put down some rubber mulch. Big mistake! It looked nice and was easy to clean but the chickens decided it was great stuff to dig around in and so it got flung every where and the waterer was filled with mulch on a daily basis. As you can see it looked nice before the chickens got to it!

So I made a trip to my local supplier that sells cement, rocks and so forth and viola! He had the exact stones I was looking for. Heavy enough not to be flung around but smooth so they don't hurt their feet. So this morning I changed out the mulch and filled it in with the stones. I am trying to make a clean feeding area for them so their food and water stays cleaner. They were flinging dirt into prior. Here it is with the rocks. Keep your fingers crossed!

I made an area outside my lean-to where the door opens , and it was muddy ,so i added pea gravel. The turkeys are eating it!:lau

Oh goodness! The guy at the rock place tried to talk me into that and I said oh no. We shall see how these stones work out . I am finding it hard to outwit the chickens. I guess that doesn't say too much for my intelligence level. LOL!!!!

Well, just checked on the feeding station and there were only 3 rocks kicked out and there were no holes dug anywhere. Hopefully this will work and things will stay tidy.

Thanks aart. I didn't think of that because I didn't know how to change the title of the first thread to let people know I was re-doing it. Plus logic isn't my first language. LOL!!!!
