I got home from work yesterday and found my fiance let the geese out and they got into some cactus...i noticed they were both walking strangely and would not come near me and even avoided me, they never do this. When i finally after over 20 minutes of coaxing them i was able to grab Lucy and check her feet...CACTUS needles! Her poor feet had about 10 needles and were poked all the way through

....they both had them in their feet...after getting them all out they were much happier and this weekend i will be busy building a goose proof fence or burning cactus!

The cactus is growing in the field next to their pen and the cows were out there, for some reason the geese love to harass the cattle.

I hope their feet won't need some medication but will check them every day.

If you have some Oxine to spray it would probably help. Bless their hearts I bet that hurt.

Thank you Miss Lydia, i will look for the oxine.
I only found it online be sure to get the Oxine ah or Veterycin you can find the latter at TSC. I use the Oxine to spray out my coops and also to mist my flock once they go to roost mixed with water it is great stuff. I have sprayed boo boos with it too.

That explains why i can't find it, where do you buy your Oxine from? It sounds great! The only thing i had found is Poultry Aid at TSC.

I bought mine from Revival animal health, don't buy the citric acid it's the activator you mix with it but if you use it that way you have to use a respirator and it's not safe to use around or on your animals, I'm not familiar with poultry aid but I'll give you the link to Oxine ah and Veterycin I hope their feet are doing good today and also if they are easy to mess with you can even soak their feet in some Epsom salt water [warm water] .. http://vetericyn.com/offline.php http://www.shagbarkbantams.com/oxine.htm
