Long time lurker first time poster...

Im sure its been covered before but Ive searched and cant find the answer.

My first batch of meaties was 25. Ive upped my production to 75 this time around. the first 25 I processed myself but would like to take the next 75 to the processor. Ive looked online and the poultry cages you see for commercial use would be perfect but shipping kills the deal.

Where can I purchase crates like these or what is the alternative to getting these birds to the processor.

  2. Hi Tia
welcome to the BYC forum. Just had a thought for you to consider.....could you call the processor up -- and might they have suggestions of what might work? Perhaps there is a source of rentals.....

I use dog crates for transport, then fold them up to take home when you pick up birds. That way you have room for your coolers and the wire crates.

We use a large dog cage and them use wood slats to make a double decker. I can get 15 per shelf. Good luck. :thumbsup
