cages?

I keep my show birds at my dad's house (20-25 miles from moms). My question is: can i keep my chickens in cages? they would have to be outside but are mostly wood so how well would that work in wintery conditions? i could cover them with plastic during the winter months.

Depends on lots of factors: how big are the cages? could they be covered/wrapped to the point of no drafts in cold weather, yet have adequate ventilation? how often would they be allowed out of the cages each day, or would they primarily live in the cage? In other words, can you give us more information so we can better help you/your situation out?
