Calabrating thermometer and hydrometer.

Anyone else ever thought of trying this? Place your thermometer and hydrometer under a broody hen. Whatever it reads, thats what you go by in your incubator.
 
I dont know for sure but i would say thats how it was done years ago to get the temp when incubators were first built. the 99.5 was the temp that was determined to be the best average.. of course im just guessing at this but i know i just had a hen hatch a clutch of eggs in the coop in 20 degree temps.. im sure the eggs got pretty cold when she came off to eat and do her business ..she set 10 eggs and 7 hatched and the other three two was infertile and one was a quitter.. so i dont think its rocket science in hatching eggs..jmo
