Calf mana for chicks?

That licorice smell is the anise that is in it. Good Stuff. The calf-manna is not just for calfs. It can be fed to most all the farm animals but not sheep because of the supplemental copper in it.

I have fed calf manna to everything, calfs, rabbits, chickens, ducks and even my kids when they were little. Got to admit that stuff smells good.

Mine eat it all the time either when a little spills out or if they get half a chance to jump in the grain bin when the cow/pigs are eating.

Never thought about grinding it for the babies tho.... there's a thought. Kinda high priced to feed it just for the possibility ....

what causes it to enlarge their livers???

It been some time ago when a state vet told me that. I beleve he said it was do to iron toxicity (iron oxide, ferrous carbonate, ferrous sulfate are all a source of iron).. Im not saying that Calf Mana is bad.. Im saying to much of it is a bad thing for chickens..
Now with that said I use it on my goats (milkers and kids), Steers, rabbits, and yes on my chickens (over 6 months) and at the rate of 5% of daily ration...
