this last week I hatched my first turkeys I have 11 slates from two different sources and one lone calico. does anybody know what a calico x slate would produce. I know I'm way way ahead of my self here but I'm curious

Slates are black based with a blue gene, and calicos are royal palms with a red gene. The offspring of such a cross would be carrying a Black base gene and a black-winged bronze base gene, a gray gene, a narragansett gene, and possibly a red and or a blue gene. That's a lot of junk genes. The Blakc is dominant over the black-wing, so poults should look like some kind of blakc thing. Whether the other genes lead to speckling or colors I could not say (for example, silver dapple turkeys are black based with two narragansett genes). If a poult gets the blue gene, it might look like a slate.
